Within San Diego County there are thousands of youth struggling through extreme adversity while lacking hope, skill & opportunity

The Problem:

Thousands of youth in San Diego County are facing adversity. Lack of food or shelter, separation from family, even abuse and neglect are some of the struggles they face daily. Due to their circumstances, some succumb to the temptations of gangs, substances or criminal activity. These outward choices reflect an internal struggle.

These youth live with addiction, despair, and apathy. They need individuals in their lives who are capable and willing to receive their messages of aggression and discomfort without reacting with hostility or indifference. While adversity is inevitable, youth still have the capacity for progress, but they need a vision and path towards a better way of living; they need opportunities to develop essential life-skills, which will help them navigate challenges more effectively.

This is where OIT can help.

The Solution:

Organizations In Training, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, provides coaching and mentoring to youth, parents and families, as well as training to the school and organizational personnel that serve these populations.  The OIT team of highly educated, trained, skilled, and experienced mentors adeptly connects with youth from a variety of backgrounds and is confident and comfortable in nearly any situation. Whether aiding youth or developing organizations, OIT enables participants to become more effective in managing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while also equipping them to be calm-assertive regardless of life’s challenges.

What We Do:

We utilize the Effective Mindset Training System (EMTS™), which is a straightforward yet comprehensive system of understanding human behavior that guides these youth to analyze and process their experiences so that they may learn from the past, become more effective in the present, and plan for the future.

Applying EMTS principles, our mentors are prepared to teach any child of any age, ultimately empowering students to gain a greater understanding of their own thoughts, emotions, desires, and behaviors. This training equips individuals with new and improved strategies for solving problems, making decisions, and accomplishing goals.

Other Opportunities from OIT:

In addition to working directly with youth, OIT supports the schools and facilities that serve these youth, offering training to parents, staff and teachers, and professional individuals or groups. All trainings offer opportunities to acquire and strengthen 5 essential skills, including:

  1. Self-understanding
  2. Understanding of others
  3. Self-management
  4. Relational skills
  5. Goal accomplishment

This organization-wide training approach offers youth the greatest opportunity to learn by receiving more consistent messages from all they come in contact with. We welcome the opportunity to work with your school or organization to build towards greater independence, productivity, and progress.

The OIT team excels at building trust with staff, students and parents which creates an environment for openness and learning about the factors influencing our behavior.
